hey!
I watched KANK last evening, admidst a packed house here in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I must say, it was disappointing although the whole new theme from kjo was a welcome change. SRK was especially disappointing :( The first half was so crowded, I kinda missed out on how kirron kher was at the rani-abhi wedding organizing it???? Please guys, fill me in, coz at the movie hall, my head was dizzy at that point!
One thing kept me glued to the movie and that was abhi's performance, he rocks!!!!!!

Good review! Now I can't help wishing I had read your review before rushing to see the movie! Having said that however, while I was at the cinema, I tried not to be too critical and actually ended up enjoying the movie in parts, ofcourse, now that I apply my analytical mind, I realize the movie falls quite short of one's expectations.

The review is thorough and honest. But look at the movie from a different perspective for a moment. Having been raised in the former Soviet Union, I was exposed to Indian (term Bollywood was not coined back then) movies since early age. While I enjoyed the dance and song sequences, it was not difficult for me to see for that the quality and plot of many movies usually was quite superficial and artificial. It had standard ingredients, such as tears, fights, dreamy bride and cruel father who would not let his daughter marry the one she loved, etc. This movie is like a breath of fresh air! Despite standard masala ingredients necessary to entertain the public in this one too, movies like that make me open my heart and explore other quality Indian movies all over again.

Nice critical review....... but the author seems biased..... though i dont disagree with the fact that the subject shud have been handled better, and the movie shudnt have been dragged (4hrs) so much. Nothing for or angainst an extra marital relationship, but then one needs to be in the institution to understand the nitty gritties of it. Had the entire secenario been potrayed well and accurate without the dash of overacting by any. The film would have come out well.
